...or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)
A black 'n' white film by Stanley Kubrick describing the madness and the constant fear of the Americans concerning the Russian conspiracy and the obsession with war.
This film has been characterised as "the hot-line suspense comedy" and I couldn't agree more. It is a comedy full of irony regarding the propaganda of foreign conspiracies and an effort to maintain a political balance even in the most extreme situations [i.e. nuclear holocaust approaching due to the actions of an insane General].
Overall this movie is frighteningly hilarious with a lot of suspence and amusing lines. Kubrick's direction is perfect as always and along with the black and white photography we see another masterpiece on the screen. Concerning the performances, I have to say that the casting was excellent; everyone was ideal for their roles.
"Dr. Strangelove" is still a powerful, brilliant and hilarious movie.
A must for those who want to see something different.
